what is so good about tumi luggage?
Is Tumi really that good? Or is it just an overpriced piece of luggage? I will be getting an engagement/wedding present from my future sister in law. She is getting us some Tumi luggages. She wanted my future wife and I to buy 1 more piece of Tumi luggage to complete the set. My own opinion of expensive luggage is: why do you need it? Why spend so much on luggage when you can goto Kohls every year and get a good deal on luggages and have a new set every year. My fiances sister says Tumi will last a life time, but my question is, what if you spend a fortune on luggages and lets say you are travelling somewhere and the airline damages your luggage, you spent a fortune on luggages and your SOL?

yeah, you can get luggage anywhere, but you might as well get it from those who know what they're doing. chances are, if it is taken care of (and the airplane doesn't damage it) then it should last a long time. the problem with cheap luggage is zippers get stuck and the insides tear.
but if you don't travel much, or would just rather buy new bags each year, then don't bother paying for tumi luggage.
