Tsa Approved Luggage Locks Target
What are the chances your luggage will be lost or something will be stolen out of it?
I'm getting paranoid, because I have a very girly, expensive looking luggage and I'm afraid it'll be a target to a thief. I'm going to California from Alaska and I have one stop at Seattle.
I will be using TSA approved luggage locks.
Have you ever lost your luggage or got anything stolen from it?
What can I do to prevent this or protect myself in case my luggage gets lost/stolen?
In 20+ years of travel, I have never had my luggage lost or stolen. The worst that has happened to me is damage to some of my stuff (usually souvenirs) when security rifles through my belongings. They often leave a nice form letter for my trouble at least.
The best thing to do is not to pack anything of high value in your checked luggage. Downplay your luggage. Cheap bags often last as long as expensive designer bags and they will make your stuff a less promising target to someone looking for a quick and easy mark in sea of bags. Just make sure to put some distinctive colors, tags, or markings on your bags to help you locate them quickly.
