Just had an awesome White Water Rafting trip over in Montana does anyone know some more places to go rafting?

To go rafting with 3+ rapids near washington state?

The Tieton River near Yakima will be running in September (it's a dam release that lasts 4-6 weeks). The best time is around the middle of the month, when the water is highest. The run is near-continuous class II+ with several class III rapids. There are lots of companies that do this run.

Another option is the White Salmon, which is across the Columbia from Hood River. This is a very fun run, with pretty continuous action for the first few miles. It's pretty low right now, but it is runnable.

Otherwise, we have to wait for storms to bring up the rivers. Usually the Snoqualmie, Skykomish, Stillaguamish, and Sauk (all the "S" rivers ;-) get a run in the early fall when the rains hit. You might also get lucky enough to get on the Green. It will run in November and December, but very few companies do the Green because it is a long run and the weather can be very cold (I've kayaked the Green several times when there was snow along the banks).

The best time for rafting in Washington is in April, May, and June. You have all kinds of choices then. If you're interested in rafting as a regular activity, you might look into Washington Recreational River Runners, which is a private rafting/kayaking club. The web site is wrrr.org
