Master Lock No 5

5 Master Lock Pick Problem?

I have seen a number of videos on youtube, and have created a set (of paper clips) to begin lock picking. I have a 45mm lynx lock ( same size as a #5 master lock) with at least 3 tumblers. Now, when I put in my tension wrench, the tumblers only stay if I keep pressure on the wrench going counter clockwise. And me not being sure of how many tumblers are there, after getting 3 up, it won't open. It is very confusing and makes no sense to me since the key opens the lock clockwise.

You should try to keep pressure on the tension wrench going clockwise, for the key opens the lock that way. I have picked a lock with homemade tools: a pen cap (tension wrench) and a paper clip bent so it has a small curve at the end. What I have mainly done (this may work for you) is not really pick the lock, but ran the pick over the pins several times while keeping pressure on the tension wrench until the lock turned.
