Should I place childproof lock on the knob of the spare bathroom (that will be in my toddler's room)?
We have three bedrooms. One is tiny - we're not going to even talk about that one right now. One is large and one is medium. The medium-sized room is the master room because it has a master bath - go figure. But, this house was built "back in the day" so, a master bedroom is not what you think in terms of size. We, the parents, are going to have to have the large room b/c of the size of our bed and crib, too. So, our 2 year old will have to have the master bedroom (smaller room w/ bathroom). There's enough room for 2 twin beds in there, which is nice, b/c my 6-month-old will share the room w/ him when he is weaned.
So, question is - do you think it's a problem for a 2 yo (soon to be 3 yo) and (soon to be 1 yo) to have an attached bathroom or should I put a childproof safety door handle thing on the knob?
If you don't trust your child, you should lock her out of it. I'm not sure how well a safety handle will work, 2 year olds can get those off if they try hard enough. You could get a latch & hook type lock and put it at the top of the door where she can't reach it.
She'll probably be read to potty train soon, and you'll want her to have access to the potty at night, don't forget about that!
