Did I break the springs in my door lock? Help please!?

I got locked out of my room. I actually do this a lot. Where I'm in a hurry and forget to grab my key and lock the door. So I pretty much mastered lock picking for those times. I think overtime picking at my lock did something because the small round things that your key is specifically shaped to push down (not sure what they are called) well they are all down in the lock now.

"What do I do?"
Replace the lock.
"What happened?"
As you've assumed, you *probably* broke a spring.
"How can I take off a door knob without a lock?"
