i have a 2000 automatic volkswagen jetta and the wheels/brakes are locking up.?

it broke down about 2 weeks ago. whenever i pressed down on the gas, the car would barely move and if i let off the gas, it would slam down back to 0 like i was pressing the brakes (versus slowing down slowly, like a car normally would). i am so fed up with this car! the dealer replaced the master cylinder and the hoses on the brakes but nothing seems to fix this problem. does anybody have any experience/ideas on what could be the issue because the mechanics apparently have no clue what to do. i just want to fix this car so i can get rid of it and get another NON VOLKSWAGEN car.

The dealer replaced the master cylinder and the hoses, and didn't fix it, i would be pretty angry with them, that's not a cheap repair!! it sounds as if there is residual pressure staying in the brake system that is not returning to the reservoir. have you tried pulling up on the brake pedal with your foot when it is doing this? it is possible that something is holding the pedal on just slightly, then as the fluid warms and expands, it is applying the brakes. the brake light switch in that car is notorious for that, so also try pulling up firmly on the pedal and listen for a sort of ratcheting sound. let me know if you need more help.
oh and find a different dealer, this should be a very simple thing to fix.
