how to find the master lock on a bike chain?
I just got a new chain for my bike
and i want to fix it up as fast as possible
and get on the road.
I am tired of walking and don't like the idea of driving
( bad for the environment, makes me lazy, too expensive )
i just bought a new chain and everything but i am having
trouble finding the master lock on the current chain
on the bike and i need to take it off..
any suggestions on what i should be looking for?
okay.
so i managed to take
my bike back
to the shop where i bought
the chain and tube
and he put it all together for me
tightened up some things
and told me to come back when i get
some more money and he will install
new sprockets for me.

it appears that i needed a chain breaker
and he had one..:)
luckily he didn't charge me
anything. and it only took him
like 5 minutes I was flippin amazed
Some chains for bikes with derailleurs do not have master links. Shimano, Campagnolo, and a few low end chains require a chain tool to remove the old chain. Your new chain will also have to be cut to length, which requires a ... chain tool, so if you want to install your new chain, you will need one anyway. If your old chain was very worn, odds are your cassette will need replacing as well. You will find this out as soon as you push hard on the pedals in the gears you use the most and the chain starts slipping.
