Is it allowed by TSA to lock items inside of your luggage that you check in?

I have my knife kit for cooking in a travel case that will easily fit in my suit case, my knives are very expensive so i would like to put a lock on the case itself then put them in my suit case for check in, is that something i can do or will they clip the lock??

You must use TSA-approved locks (which can be re-locked). They can be opened with special tools. Otherwise, if they want to open your luggage, they will break the lock.
