Good tall tripod for travelling....?

Can anyone recommend a decent camera tripod for use on holiday? I don't mean one of those pocket things that extends up to about ten inches - I'm after something that is reasonably portable (so that it will fit in a smallish backpack) but that can be extended up to waist or even chest height so that it can be positioned on the floor. Also it needs to be quite sturdy as I might want to mount a camcorder on it from time to time.

Very good tripod is 055C for around £100 inc head
But if you want lightweight then you will have to pay more for a carbon fibre tripod expect to pay upto £250
